Welcome to AFL Masters ACT
Masters football is for men and women aged 35 and over to continue to enjoy a kick, a run, and a beer with mates in a friendly, social and supportive environment. In the ACT, our players range from past champions in the ACTAFL to footy leagues from all over rural and urban Australia. Every year we introduce many new players to our great national game, who have never played Aussie Rules before!
Our motto is ‘Footy for Fun’ – so we look after each other on and off the field. We play virtually normal AFL rules, slightly modified to minimise the risk of injury. We get to exercise our competitive spirit in home carnivals and against teams from around the ACT and NSW region, including the South Coast, out West and up to the Illawarra, Sydney and the Hunter Region. We’ve also been very successful at the annual National Carnivals. In 2023, we’re heading to the Sunshine Coast, QLD to fill out the trophy cabinet again!
Our club places strong emphasis on including our families and children in all our events and activities.
Our season commences late March with a match every second Sunday from 1pm (the location does change). We training every Wednesday night from 7pm at Stirling Oval, Teesdale Close, Stirling. Over Summer we play a non-contact form of the game; 6pm on Wednesdays and 9am on Sundays.

Yes. You MUST register with our Club prior to playing. You’re welcome to come and have a couple of runs at training or to view a match, but for insurance purposes, a player MUST be registered – it protects everyone!
Not as such. Our season generally consists of playing intra-club matches and other games against teams from Sydney, the Hunter Region, Illawarra and the South Coast. We also traditionally play a 3 match series against the Australian Defence College, Weston Creek.
Of course! The big annual event for AFLM is the National Carnival which is rotated among various State venues – the last week in September. In 2023, we head to the Sunshine Coast, QLD. The national carnival is an age-based competition.
That’s ok, we welcome all masters players, regardless of how long it’s been since you last pulled on the boots! Our Club’s focus on fitness and fun, so come out on the track for a run.
Come and try...
The great game of AFL Masters (AFLM) Australian Football provides the opportunity for male and female players 35 years and over to enjoy the game of Aussie Rules Football in a safe, supportive, family-orientated, and fun environment. So come on down and try!
We welcome all players, regardless of skill and experience – and no matter how long it’s been since you last had a run. Reach out via our contact form if you want to know more.
Registration...

The Club and Personal Injury Insurance
This message is to remind all players that they are not covered for personal injury …. and if they wish to be covered then they need to seek separate cover from other sources. We highly recommend that all players have personal health insurance cover.
NOTE: AFL Masters ACT has taken out a BRONZE level of personal insurance cover with JLT Australia insurance brokers. For details of this policy, please read here. Your annual registration fee covers the cost of the Club’s BRONZE insurance policy.
